Africans historically made beaded jewelry which was won for different functions and served different purposes. Some were worn as bracelets and some were used as headpieces by women. The Khoi san found in the Kalahari desert sands were traditionally wore headpieces made from beaded crafted skillfully from ostrich egg shells.
