Applications are invited from suitably qualified Botswana Citizens for the below post tenable in Gaborone City Council.

Post:         DRIVER I

Salary Scale:                        B3 (P59, 412 -P69, 744) per annum

Leave:                                    20 working days per annum

Qualification:                      Direct entry to this grade requires a minimum of Primary School Leaving Examination Certificate and Class C Botswana National License.

Experience:                          For progression to this grade candidates must

have at least two years of driving experience (without a preventable accident) in the Driver II, B4 grade. They must have a good working knowledge of the principles of operation of automatic air-brake systems and load tie-down systems.

Benefits:

• Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme: Government pays 80% and Employee pays 20%.
• Contributory Pension Fund Scheme: Government contributes 15% and Employee pays 5% of basic salary.

Duties

Driver on this grade perform duties similar to those in Driver II (B4), but

shall primarily be employed to drive, vehicles of Gross Combination

Weight above 16000 kg including trailer and below 25000 kg combination

weight.

• Drives heavy-duty vehicles exceeding 16 000 kg maximum weight (for non-articulated vehicles) up to 25 000 kg maximum weight including trailer;
• Supervises one or more vehicle attendants; and
• Acts as Driver in-charge when more than one vehicle, but less than five is assigned to a specific duty.
